Tips for a good CV

Here are some tips to help improve your CV:

  1. Order and Layout

    • Start with Experience, then list Projects (if you don’t have much experience).
    • For each project, list the technologies used, project name, a short description, and the biggest challenges you solved.
  2. Work Timeline

    • A clear, step-by-step timeline of your work experience is important.
  3. Font and Style

    • Use a simple, easy-to-read font and consistent styling.
  4. Length

    • More than one page is okay, but don’t make it too long.
  5. Technology Skills

    • Only include technologies you’re confident in, not every technology you’ve heard of.
  6. Key Skills

    • Put your main tech skills at the top of the CV.
  7. Education

    • If you’re a recent graduate, include A/Ls. If you have some experience, focus more on your work achievements than on university subjects.
  8. Contact Details

    • Make sure it’s easy to copy your phone number, email, and name.

Note: Not all points may apply to you—just use what makes sense. These tips are to help you make a better CV. For more advice, consider researching online or talking to others.

Communication Skills

  • Keep working on English communication—it’s an area many people in Sri Lanka can improve on.

Good luck!
